Data Legislation & Regulation - 22 March 2006

Just over 40 members attended this eye opening event on the law of the land and how it affects Data Management. Many thanks to  PricewaterhouseCoopers, Birmingham for hosting and providing delegates with an excellent venue and catering.

Many thanks also to the speakers, two of which travelled from Europe to present, Herman Gores and Wim Gorhes - please note that Wim Gorhes presentation is only available until mid May 2006. Paul Smith and Olivia Patterson presented on behalf of Pwc and we were very fortunate to have Dave Evans from the Information Commissioner's Office, who set the scene for the day by updating and reminding us of the basics of the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act.

We received positive feedback from delegates via the usual questionnaire, who also advised of subject matter for future events, please keep a look out for news. The venue location was much appreciated by members from the Midlands and northern regions. If you could provide a venue for 50-60 people in or around the Midlands or above, please email sue.russell@damauk.org with details. See below for presentations.

Dave Evans, ICO - Data Management & Data Protection

Wim Gorhes, Human Inference - DAMA - Data Quality - PwC - no longer available

Herman Gores - Data Quality - a prerequisite for Compliance

Olivia Patterson & Paul Smith, PricewaterhouseCoopers - Legal Issues & the need to categorise data
