BCS DMSG/DAMA UK Joint Event - 'Unstructured Data' - 15 June 2006The BCS Data Management Specialist Group kindly hosted this event at their Southampton Street Offices in London. The event was well attended with almost 50 delegates enjoying an interesting and varied line up of international speakers. John Ladley of Navigant Consulting, in the UK for the EA conference, gave up his valuable time to set the scene for the day with a presentation on 'Trends in Content and Managing Content', this was followed by the 'Management of Metadata for 'Unstructured Data' as required in Media Industry' from Astrid Horgen of Siemens Business Services/the BBC. After lunch Dan Thomsen of Interse A/S talked about Managing 'Unstructured Data' the importance of metadata - the impact on Data Management' and to end the day Dan Rickman, a representative from the Geospatial SG, gave a presentation on Geospatial 'Unstructured Data'. The conference was a great success despite the distraction of 'that' game (England v Trinidad & Tobago) and many thanks to BCS for the use of their superb facilities again this year.
