Annual General Meeting - 2 November 2004

This year DAMA UK had a stand in place to offer information to delegates of the European Conference. Members were given the opportunity to sit into one of three presentations linked to the European Conference, followed by a drinks reception and the Annual General Meeting.

Over 30 DAMA UK members and some guests attended the meeting which was impressive given the late start - 18.45 to 19.45 - after a long day at the Conference.

The meeting was opened by Chairman Dave Evans and Keith Gordon gave a report of the last year. Julie Feest of the e-Skills organisation gave a brief talk on education and data management and how the two could be of benefit each other.

Overall, DAMA UK had successfully organised four events on Data Quality, Data Warehousing, the Legal Aspects of Data and the Peter Aiken special presentation evening. With a fifth to come on the theme of Data Exchange and lots of ideas for 2005. Several courses have now been endorsed - by IRM UK and Stehle Associates - please see report for details - and some discussion followed on academic courses. Data Quality targets were announced and recent data regulations were highlighted. A discussion on standards followed with some interesting participation from members on existing and new standards.

Although DAMA had coped throughout this financially an injection of funding was required to keep the situation healthy. Thanks were given to all DAMA UK sponsors for 2004, particularly ASG as gold sponsors, and it was agreed to increase membership fees to £25.00 for individuals and £165.00 for corporate members.

Members were thanked for their attendance and the meeting was closed.
