Data Management - 3 December 2003PricewaterhouseCoopers hosted this 'full house' event in their Embankment Offices in London. Information Answers Ltd sponsored the event. Paul Smith of PwC discussed the how to reap the benefits of good Data Management. Christine Craven of The Abbey kindly stepped into Vicky Peacock's shoes at the last minute and Jon Hill (BT) gave delegates an enlightening presentation on how BT have succeeded in this area and saved millions of £'s. Many thanks to PricewaterhouseCoopers for their generous hospitality. Speaker Profiles and PresentationsVicki Peacock is Head of Information Strategy and Information Quality within Abbey National. She has been with Abbey National for almost 12 years and for the majority of that time has been involved with all aspects of information, from IT application development, project management of Information Management related projects, Information Quality and latterly Information Strategy and the strategic development of information to support business strategy. Vicki is responsible for a specialist information team within the key business division. Vicki has been instrumental in driving forward the development of a central architecture to support the Information, in addition to promoting a culture of Information Governance.
Jon Hill delivers Information Quality initiatives for British Telecommunications (BT) within the UK. He has 15 years experience in System Design and Development. Over the last four years he has focused on improving the quality of information within BT delivering over 170 million pounds in business benefit. He leads a team of information experts who manage projects across the Telecoms business and deliver solutions within asset management, process control and billing assurance. Jon uses a wide range of information quality tools within projects and has extensive experience in investigation and solving IQ problems.
Paul Smith started out his working life as a freelance programmer, but then qualified as a Chartered Accountant to add some business credibility to his programming skills. Since then, Paul has spent the last 15 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers (in its various guises) focusing on IT process /system design and heading up the Data Management skill set within PwC UK. The data side has provided some of the more interesting challenges for Paul over recent years including project managing the 2001 PwC Data Management survey and working with organisations to manage data quality issues. As a result Paul has gained a wealth of experience in the field of data and its integration with business in areas ranging from global ERP implementations to ongoing data quality management.
