After an initial start as an electronics engineer and research technologist within GEC and at university, Patrick found himself becoming more involved with computing and particularly with the then ‘new-fangled’ relational databases. He has spent the past 20 years embroiled in designing, developing and architecting data orientated systems and solutions, particularly within the investment banking sector, and has worked for a number of major financial institutions (LIFFE, RBS, IFDS). He is increasingly interested in how engineering rigour could be applied to various aspects of data architecture as opposed to an ad-hoc ‘cook book’ approach.
